Think you know SmallTownBrooklyn's neighborhoods? We'll do out
best to provide you with tips as well as links pertaining to local
sites of interest whether they be historical or just plain unique.
For instance, did you know that the truck depot wall fronting
the east side of Third Avenue between 1st & 3rd Streets was
part of the original stadium where the Brooklyn Dodgers once played? The indentations in the wall
were the ticket windows according to the late Brooklyn historical
guru, Michael Mann. See the link at Forgotten New York:
2003 note: There's a good chance that Con Edison is going to take
down this wall because it needs more room.
Or ever visit
the steam generating building on the Pratt Campus, over in Clinton
Hill? You'll find within an operating Victorian DC electrical
generating plant worthy of Jules Verne! www.asme.org/history/roster/H025.html
Or the famous
tunnel built in 1844 under Atlantic Avenue, running from Court
Street to the Waterfront? There are even tours given by Bob Diamond
of the Brooklyn trolley Museum. see www-tech.mit.edu/Subway/Tunnel/
